  One of the only new shows I’ve continued to watch this fall past it’s premiere date is ABC’s “Nashville”. Created by Academy Award winner Callie Khouri, it centers around two women in music, one older and one younger. Connie Britton plays Rayna Jaymes who’s stardom begins fading and Hayden Panettiere plays Juliette Barnes who’s star’s on the rise. Though initially I liked it a lot, I have to admit, it’s getting a little too “soap opera-ish” for me with the introduction of Kimberly Paisley’s “Peggy” character. It’s as if they have to make Rayna’s husband Teddy bad to make it okay for Rayna to continue to have feelings for former flame Deacon which to me, is a bit of a cop out, but hell, that’s Hollywood for you. The only reason I’ll probably continue to watch for awhile is due to two of the supporting characters in the show, Gunnar and Scarlett. Their chemistry is electric and their singing partnership in the show, totally makes it for me. Scarlett, played by australian (who’d have thunk?) actress Clare Bowen, has an amazing old fashioned styled voice and Gunnar, played by brit (wow, really?) Sam Palladio, perfectly compliments her in every way. I mean, this is a partnership I’d actually really dig on its’ own regardless of a tv show backing it. Every week I look forward to their duets and yeah, those heartbreaking looks he gives her reminding us that it’s called a “crush” for a reason. 

  Here is my favorite of their duets called, “If I Didn’t Know Better”. You can purchase this as well as two more songs by the pair on iTunes. And if you haven’t yet seen these two stand out performers, take a look. It comes on Wednesdays at 10 pm PST on ABC. It’s only because of them that I’ll be watching long after everyone begins sleeping with everyone which unfortunately seems to always happen on tv after a couple seasons and usually my cue to change the channel.

  Watched Shame today, lovely soundtrack. Did not expect certain things to happen. Currently don’t know what to think about the movie. Great acting from Fassbender though.
